VLC Video Player

It is done: Live Streaming on Windows Phone using VLC.
Many people like the idea of streaming content from their home pc to the smart phone. This can be a live stream from the cable box or video files on a local storage. Usually the phone does not recognize the format. A transcoder can solve this issue on the fly.
Their are many apps for Android or iPhone using the VLC Media Player as transcoding engine. It has a remote control interface and supports many video formats. Unfortunately Windows Phone does only support WMV3 for live streaming. This is one of the codecs VLC can not create. Thats why the most apps for Windows Phone use an own propretary server software.
My app “VLC Video Player” does not need an own server software beside VLC. It can convert the VLC video stream into a format supported by windows phone. A huge advantage is, that the server does not have to be a Windows system. VLC is available for Mac and Linux. Many people have the VLC Media Player installed already, because it can play almost any video file.

Du hast eine efforagende Arbeit gemacht…
Alles laüft einwandfrei, und sogar mit live streaming aus eine IP Kamera (also: Baby -> IP Kamera -> VLC Streaming Server -> WP7 App)…
Dabei gibt es aber einen Nachteil: IP Kamera Streaming hat 2-3s Lagzeit auf dem PC, aber ~30s in WP App.
Kann dass von eine Einstellung im VNC kommen (habe aber keins gefunden, streaming multiplexor Buffer ist standart bei 1.5s), oder von zu viel Buffering in deiner App?

Die App hat einen relativ großen Buffer. Da ließe sich sicher noch etwas optimieren.

Hallo!
App funktioniert im Heimnetzwerk perfekt.
Geht die App auch über Inet, da ich immer einen Verbindungsfehler bekomme (DynDNS vorhanden Port:8080 freigegeben, Firewall angepasst bzw. ausgeschaltet.
Die App Dream Web TV kann übers Internet angesprochen werden, jedoch kann das Fersehprogramm nicht gestreamt wereden, da keine Verbindung zum Server hergestellt werden kann (Server gestartet (lt Taskmanager, Firewall ausgeschaltet, Ports freigegeben, Zugriff auf Dreambox funktioniert).

Hallo,
Mir fallen da verschiedene Möglichkeiten ein. Am zuverlässigsten, kann man es prüfen, wenn man im Internet Explorer die Adresse des VLCs eingibt. Dann sollte man die Weboberfläche sehen.
Je nach dem Ergebnis würde ich dann die .hosts Datei oder die Portfreigaben prüfen.

Hey man, app ist klaase, hab dein Code gar nicht gesehen, aber heute als ich meine mp3s index bearbeiten hatte, wunderte mich ob dein Code zum mp3 u.a. Standards streaming auch angepasst werden koennte? Glaubst du es moeglich waere? (ich hoffe Du kannste mein Deutsch verstehen, bin Griechisch aber habe bis ’08 in HH gelebt, kann auch auf Englisch schreiben, falls mein Deutsch verschlechtert ist)

Hello,
Did you checked the tutorial at http://www.casa-del-stifler.de/?page_id=176&lang=en ? You need a working connection from your phone to your VLC on your PC before you can use the app.
To avoid misunderstanding: the app is called “Video Player for VLC”. It is a companion app for the popular VLC Media Player and can only work in combination.

There is a bug in VLC Media Player starting from version 2.0.6. Please use 2.0.5. With the next update of my app I use an other audio format, to avoid this bug. Then it will work with newer versions again.

I tried hard to get this to work. I even got the web player to open on my phone but still couldn’t get it to connect in the program. I followed and read the tutorial multiple times.
Note* Check “Step 2: Edit host file” in your instructions. The picture/instructions vs video are contradictory

Thank you for your response. Step two doesn’t upset me, I just thought it might be helpful to share my experience.
Tonight I try it and it works FLAWLESSLY! With no effort at all.
Unfortunately I don’t know why I had a difficult time in the first place.
I assumed it was going to stream whatever was playing in my playlist on my computer, but I can actually explore my hard drives and select any media.
